R-5 School District News & Views By Superintendent of Schools Sarrah Morgan

Mrs. Finkeldei and I had the opportunity to join approximately 150 fellow Missouri delegates, in attendance at the National Conference on Education. This conference is sponsored by AASA (The School Superintendents Association) and was held at the San Diego Convention Center, February 14-17, 2024.The theme of the 2024 Conference was, Here For The Kids.

As educational leaders, our ultimate goal is to provide the best possible education and support to the students we serve. This year’s Conference highlighted the crucial role that public school superintendents play in creating a supportive, inclusive, and empowering educational environment that meets the diverse needs of all students. By keeping the students at the center of everything we do, we can work together to create a better future for them and for society.

This professional development provided learning in the latest insights, strategies, and best practices to help us lead our school district to success. With keynote speeches from top education experts, interactive workshops, invaluable networking opportunities, and hundreds of experts in the NCE Exhibit Hall, we gained valuable knowledge and resources to help us overcome the unique challenges faced by public school superintendents; from improving student outcomes to navigating complex regulations and funding structures.

Our focus when at the conference was attending sessions related to the District’s CSIP goals. Valuable knowledge gained has been, and will continue to be, shared with District administrators for dissemination at the building level.
