R-5 School District News & Views By Superintendent of Schools Sarrah Morgan

Lexington High School honored students with outstanding academic performance during the sixth annual Academic Week held Monday, February 26th - Friday, March 2nd. Students were eligible for this honor who maintained a 3.66 GPA over the course of at least three semesters. The theme this year was Same Pieces, Different Puzzle. 

Monday kicked off the week's celebrations with an ice cream social. An awards ceremony was held that evening where welcomes were given by Mr. Hon, high school principal, and myself. Shari Thomas was the guest speaker. Other events during the week included: 

Tuesday - Breakfast, Movie

Wednesday - University of Missouri college visit

Thursday - Truman Library visit

Friday - Community Service (painting storm drains)

The following students earned Academic Week honors and participated in the week of celebration:

Freshmen who met the GPA requirement in their first semester of high school were eligible to participate in Tuesday's movie event. Eighteen freshmen qualified: Adalynn Sawyer, Addison Smith, Annabella Crosetti, Elizabeth Menard, Emerson Worthington, Fabie Arana-Vazquez, Greta Beach, Krissa Bertz, Kristy Rangel, Lainie Schumacher, Larissa Adkins, Lilly King, Madeline King, Mireya Gonzalez, Mizsa White, Olivia Dye, Taylor Schorgl, and Wyatt Sparks.

Special thanks to the LHS Academic Week Committee, Opaa for hosting the ice cream social, LLRTC Culinary Arts for providing cookies at the awards ceremony and catering the breakfast, and LLRTC Welding for manufacturing the puzzle piece for the awards ceremony.
