R-5 School District News & Views By Superintendent of Schools Sarrah Morgan

It was a busy summer on the Lexington R-V campuses as we prepared for the 2024-2025 school year. Our maintenance and custodial staff completed all routine cleaning and maintenance tasks. In addition, maintenance began installation of new LED lighting which will save the District money in energy efficiency and allow us to obtain rebates. The LHS gym south outer brick was sealed. This will stop moisture from seeping in and allow us to complete much needed paint inside. Roofs were checked and a few places were resealed. The new BOE building had site work, concrete and asphalt completed. HVAC and sheetrock work are in progress.

Utilizing safety grant funds, safety film was installed on all windows and entry ways. Decorative window perforation is being installed on all large glass areas to provide limited viewing. Office windows are getting frosted perforation for this same purpose. Other items to be purchased with these funds include hallway signage, exterior window and door numbering, and walkie talkies.

The District has several new systems in place this year, including Teacher Ease - Student Information System, school website, and a District app. First Student Transportation will also have an app available for parents, allowing them to track student bus routes. This is scheduled to be available in mid-September.

Building principals and secretaries returned to the office on August 1st. New staff attended training on August 5th and 6th. All staff returned on August 14th. We were thrilled to welcome students back on August 21st. Current enrollment is as follows:

PreK - 12: 939

PreK - 64 (13 half day, 51 full day)

LBS (K-4) - 284

LMS (5 - 8) - 267

LHS (9-12) - 324

The Lexington RV School District is looking forward to continued partnerships with families and the community to make the 2024-2025 school year a success!
